A reflection of history but with modern conveniences and durability.

Each chest begins life as 7 ply Baltic birch plywood imported from the Baltic region of Europe, the best and strongest plywood available. Solid aromatic cedar is used to line the interior of every chest. Aromatic cedar has long been used for its pleasing fragrance and natural protection against moths and insects.

The outside is covered in exotic wood veneers or cowhide leather embossed with patterns resembling alligator, ostrich or other unique design.

The natural beauty of the exotic wood veneers and leather encourages everyone to touch and experience the beauty the eye can only see. The soft supple leather texture is a wonderful encounter.

Many design options are available. Some have drawers accessible from the outside to maximize the storage in the lower part of the chest. Removable trays are included in the larger sizes. Rounded or flat top styles are available to suit your preference. Optional stands raise the trunks 8 inches off the floor. Flat top chests can also be used as a coffee table. For added protection, we recommend a beveled edge glass top when using them as coffee tables.

Four standard sizes are available in either flat or rounded top styles.

No two chests are exactly alike. The uniqueness of the exotic wood veneers varies from piece to piece. Leather choices are more predictable and consistent in color and pattern.

The drawers have steel ball bearing, full extension slides with 100 lb. rating. The full extension allows the complete drawer to be accessible without the back part still inside the trunk. You never have a problem getting to the back part of the drawer. By special order we can make drawers for files with heavy duty slides rated at 150 lb.

The tops have a special support and closer devise to prevent them from slamming shut on fingers. The top will stay open until you start to close them, then they will close slowly by themselves. A great safety feature for adults and children's fingers.

Many different kinds of woods are available to complement any interior decor. We offer traditional woods such as Red or White oak, maple, cherry, walnut and mahogany. More exotic and unusual veneers are used such as Carpathian Elm burl, Mappa burl, Pommele Sapelle, Maple burl, Walnut burl, Mahogany and Walnut crotch. These exotics are truly spectacular and draw people to "ooo and ahhh" and ask numerous questions about them. One can't resist touching them to experience what their eyes are telling them.
